Damage Caused by Scale

The accumulation of scale can lead to very aggravating and costly situations. To name a few, it contributes to the erosion of equipment components and taps that come into contact with water, hinders the performance of heating components, and shortens the normal lifespan of pipes and other equipment.

Damages at home
If your water at home is hard, you may have difficulty lathering, experience skin irritation, and notice excessive scum around hand basins, bathtubs, and showers. However, these problems are mere inconvenience when compared with the invisible yet extremely damaging consequences of hard water scale buildup. Scale buildup will prematurely ruin taps and attack the insides of plumbing pipes and hot water tanks, as revealed by these images.

Damages to commercial appliances
Scale is an enemy to any commercial appliance that uses water (such as coffeemakers, ice makers, humidifiers, etc.). Scale will build up, stick to the inner workings of such equipment, and inflict serious damage. The result: high maintenance costs requiring an expert's time and in which aggressive acidic products are used. Even with maintenance, scale considerably damages pipes, reservoirs and any internal component that touches water.

In the long-term, Scale increases the costs of operating commercial appliances, costs that will invariably cut into a business's revenue.
