Q What does Scalehammer do and how does it work?
A Scalehammer is a water descaling device that eliminates existing scale and inhibits the formation of new deposits. The problem with hard water is that calcium particles in large concentrations tend to stick to themselves and fixtures, causing hard scale that clogs pipes, clings to plumbing systems, and anything submersed in the water, such as heating elements. Scalehammer generates low power radio waves (waveforms) that affect the molecular attraction of these scale-forming particles, keeping them in solution or suspension. These particles flow harmlessly through your pipes and appliances and down the drain, reducing unsightly scale-related stains and deposits.

Q Does Scalehammer work when water is excessively hard?
A Scalehammer works effectively in water whose hardness level is as high as 25 grains or 425 ppm. If your water is harder than this, we recommend that you use a traditional salt softener along with Scalehammer. For best results, install Scalehammer before the softener.

Q Will Scalehammer reduce the amount of calcium in my water?
A Scalehammer does not add or remove any minerals, including calcium, from water. If you perform a water hardness test, you will notice no change in the calcium content.

Q How long will Scalehammer last?
A Scalehammer is designed to operate continuously for over 10 years under normal operating conditions. We guarantee the Scalehammer for 5 years from date of purchase and will replace any unit that fail during that time.

Q Is Scalehammer expensive to operate?
A Absolutely not. Operating costs are minimal and should be less than $5 per year. In the long-term, you'll significantly lower costs related to heating hot water, de-scaling parts and dishwashers as well as costs incurred through repairing and replacing equipment damaged by scale.

Q Does Scalehammer require maintenance?
A Scalehammer is designed to run maintenance free.

Q When I move, can I take Scalehammer with me?
A Yes. Because installing Scalehammer requires no additional plumbing work, removing it is as easy as unwinding its antenna and unplugging the unit.

Q What are the advantages of owning Scalehammer over other electronic or magnetic devices?
A Scalehammer is the state-of-the-art device in alternating current water conditioning. Scalehammer's digital electronics-controlled technology continually fluctuates among 3000 different frequencies, thus treating the widest range of mineral concentrations and other variables that cause hard water problems. It does not treat iron particles.
Note: Permanent bar magnets have been promoted as a method of “treating” hard water, but they do not treat the vast and complex array of mineral contents and concentrations found in water. Therefore, untreated minerals continue to cause scale, and different temperatures and flow rates can reduce effectiveness. Magnetic particles also build up inside the pipe where the magnets are placed, eventually causing blockage at the very point it is supposed to be doing its job.

Q On what size pipe will Scalehammer work? Is there a maxmimum size?
A The Scalehammer is designed for maximum performance on pipe diameters of up to one inch (2.5 cm).

Q Will Scalehammer affect my water pressure?
A Many customers have noticed a substantial improvement in water flow due to the descaling effect of the plumbing system. This is especially true with customers who have well pumps, where pressure changes are more significant and noticeable.

Q When and how will I notice the difference?
A The average water system can be descaled in just 12 weeks. The first signs are when the water feels softer. Scale starts to soften and fall off toilet cisterns and kettle elements. Scale on taps and commercial appliances will soften and can easily be removed. There should be a progressive improvement in water flow and the time it takes for hot water tanks to heat the water.

Q Where should I install Scalehammer?
A The installation location will depend on the equipment you wish to protect. If you want to protect a commercial appliance such as a coffeemaker, install Scalehammer to the main water supply leading to the equipment. If you want to protect your home's entire water supply, install Scalehammer to the main water supply leading into your home. This way, you treat all water that enters your home before it runs off in different directions. You may have to supply a power source in which to plug in Scalehammer's adaptor. Like all electronic devices, Scalehammer must be protected from the weather, dampness, excessive heat, and direct sunlight.

Q Can Scalehammer be used with existing filter systems and water softeners?
A Yes. Scalehammer has no adverse effect on other filter systems, and Scalehammer's descaling process is not affected by them. In fact, these inline systems will also benefit from the descaling process, prolonging the life of these systems. Water softeners need no longer be regenerated with salt but may be left in place during the descaling period while the Scalehammer descales them and removes the sodium deposits left as a byproduct of their operation. Afterwards, they are rendered obsolete and can be either removed, disposed of, or left in place (provided they are not restricting waterflow).

Q My water is stored in tanks. Do I treat the pipe going into the tank or coming out of it?
A It is always best to treat the pipe coming into the tank preferably at the point where it enters the building, as there is usually a power supply and shelter from the weather. When stored in a tank, Scalehammer-treated water remains in a charged state for four days. If the tank's water is constantly being used, there is no loss of treatment. Scalehammer will break down all the sediments and scale that may have accumulated in the tank over the years and drop it in lumps on the bottom before progressively breaking it down into tiny sub 4 micron particles over a period of time. After a few months of treatment, it is advisable to remove all this scale and sediments to gain the maximum water softening, descaling, water clarity and health benefits from the Scalehammer.

Q Will Scalehammer work on any kind of pipe material?
A Scalehammer is effective on all pipe materials including, PVC, ABS, Copper, Cast iron, galvanized steel and even fiber cement pipes.

Q Is treated water fit to drink?
A Yes, no chemicals are used and it retains all of its natural minerals essential to good health

Q Will the device work using country's power supply?
A Scalehammer comes with a 110 V 60 hz power unit. Option for a power supply of 100-240 V is also available.

Q Should the unit be left on at all times?
A Yes, ALWAYS.

Q If installed near a Scalehammer, will an Ultra Violet filter cause any interference to the Scalehammer?
A No, there are no problems from having an Ultra Violet filter near the Scalehammer.
